Seneca Black Elk Mathews, a name we all knew and loved had a smile no one will ever forget. Seneca passed from this earth and is joining his many relatives that have gone before him. Seneca had a great smile and he always wore it well along with his "colorful attire". Seneca was a great son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. Seneca was born April 10, 1984 to Willis (J R) Mathews and Beth (Graves) Mathews at their home in Tulsa, OK. Seneca is survived by his parents, J R and Beth, his brother Sean Crawfish Mathews of Quapaw, brother Thomas Crawfish Mathews and Jamie Mathews of Quapaw and their children Tyler, Tanner, Tori, Trace, and little Thomas (T), his brothers Anthony and Justin Bryant, his grandmother Flossie Mathews of Miami, Ok, grandfather Willis and Lee Ann Mathews of Miami, OK, Tim and Jerri Montgomery Aunt and Uncle of Quapaw, Ok, Perry and Lori Mathews, Uncle and Aunt, Salt Lake City, Susan and Bob Zwaan (Aunt and Uncle) of Lawton, Ok, Reed
Winbourn, (Uncle) of Denver, CO, Cathy and Frank Meyer (Aunt and Uncle) of Albuquerque, NM, and numerous cousins, loved ones, and friends. Seneca was preceded in death by his beloved great grandmother, Pearl Crawfish Dukes and his maternal grandparents Vera and Buck Graves of Lawton, OK.
Seneca will be missed by anyone who had ever had contact with him. His mischievous grin made you think he was always up to something, and he usually was. Seneca loved life and made everyone around him love life because of him. We love you Seneca and everyone will miss you.
Services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Miami Oklahoma with Ranny McWaters leading the services. Interment will follow in the G.A.R. Cemetery under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral of Miami. Native American Rites will be conducted by Ranny McWaters and Russ Garber. Pallbearers will be Sean, Thomas, Anthony, Justin, Dwindle and Tyler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brody Pursley, Jimmy Burgess, Jeremy Bludell, Kirk Myrick, Michael Avicla and Grandpa LeRoy. Seneca will lie in state at his parents' home 1517 Ponder Court, Miami, Oklahoma until time for services. The family asked donations be made to the Joplin Relief Fund in Memory of Seneca something very dear to his heart.
