Carl Lee Douthit of Miami, Oklahoma passed away Friday, October 9, 2009 at his home after an illness.

He was 72 years old.
Carl was born March 10, 1937 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma to Harold and Nadene (Shirley) Douthit.

He was a graduate of Wyandotte High School.

He worked at B.F. Goodrich for 22 years, after the closure of the plant he attended Afton Vo Tech where he received a certificate in diesel mechanics.

He then owned and operated Carls Tractor Service until his illness.
Carl was an avid fisherman and a member of the Fairland Masonic Lodge #24. He was a 50 year member and past worshipful master.

He was a member of the Ottawa Indian Baptist Church.

He married Barbara Sharp in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 19, 1959. They recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Kathy Bunce.

He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home; two sons, James and wife Rexanna Douthit; Danny and wife April Douthit, one daughter: Vicki and husband Mark Smith all of Miami, Oklahoma. Three brothers; Frank, Lonnie and Wayne Douthit all of Fairland Oklahoma. Two sisters; Linda Hembree of Welch, Oklahoma and Kay Douthit of North Miami, Oklahoma. 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many, many other friends and family.

Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, October 12, 2009 at the Ottawa Indian Baptist Church east of Miami. Officiating will be June and Odell Thomas and Rev. Geoff Buffalo. Serving as Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Interment will follow in the Ottawa Indian Cemetery under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Miami. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 4-6 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami
